Treatment of blemish prone skin with Environ Focus Care™ CLARITY+

Blemish or breakout prone skin starts in the area surrounding the skin hairs: the hair follicles become blocked with dead skin cells and oil, eventually leading to congestion and breakouts. The most commonly affected areas are the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.

As always, prevention of breakouts is always better than curing them:

  • Vitamin A is the only molecule that can prevent the progression of blackheads to inflammatory lesions.
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Beta Hydroxy Acids can assist the skin by reducing blackhead formation.
  • Vitamin B, Tea Tree Oil and chemical peels are also believed to assist in the treatment of breakout-prone skin.

 Normal skin vs Breakout skin

On image A above, you will see a healthy skin layer. Notice the normal, not oversized, sebaceous glands with no blemishes.

Image B shows breakout-prone skin. You will notice the enlarged, swollen sebaceous glands, producing too much sebum while dead skin cells are blocking the follicles. These swollen, overactive, glands can develop during puberty because of hormonal changes and they can also be the result of stress which stimulates the release of certain hormones.

The combination of the increased sebum production and the hyperkeratinisation (blocking of the pores by excessive dead skin cells) means that sebum cannot get to the surface of the skin, starts to build up in the glands and then Propioni bacteries will move in (one of their favourite habitats) and cause the terribly visible inflammation.

How Environ targets breakout-prone skin:

Through extensive research and trials, Environ has found that the best approach to improving the appearance of breakout-prone skin is to normalise the vitamin A deficiency and target the problematic skin simultaneously with their new Focus Care Clarity+ Product Range.

Look at the overview of the simple 3 phase skincare routine, which describes the purpose of each phase in the Focus Care Clarity+ Range:

Phase 1 – Clean

Sebu-Wash Gel Cleanser, is a mattifying foaming face wash formulated with a combination of ingredients that assist in washing away dirt and excess surface oil that may aggravate the appearance of blemishes, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and clean.

Sebu-Tone Clarifier, is formulated with clarifying exfoliators and sebum regulating ingredients. This toner helps to remove the build-up of dead skin cells and assists in minimising the appearance of an oily shine, leaving the skin looking smoother and more refined.

Phase 2 – Control

Sebu-Lac Lotion is a non-oily lotion designed to help combat the signs of breakouts and to assist in improving the texture and tone of breakout-prone skin. Containing a special combination of Lactic Acid exfoliators and moisturisers, it leaves the skin feeling softer, smoother and more balanced. This product has always to be used (mixed) together with Vita-Botanical Sebu-ACE Oil.

Sebu-ACE Oil is a light-textured botanical and vitamin-enriched oil that helps to control the appearance of blemishes. It is scientifically formulated to provide a daily dose of skin essential vitamins and leaves the sin looking and feeling healthier and smoother. This product has to be mixed, in the palm of your hand, with an equal quantity of Vita-Botanical Sebu-Lac Lotion before use.

Sebu-Spot Blemish Gel is a targeted spot treatment that is specifically formulated to assist in improving the appearance of visible spots and blemishes.

Phase 3 – Clear

Sebu-Clear Masque is an acid cream mask that contains a combination of exfoliating acids to help clear the appearance of existing breakouts, leaving the skin looking visibly clearer. To be used only 2 or 3 times per week, in the evening.
